Good news everyone! I've just ordered some baseboards from Tim Horn to start Hollymoor v2.0! In a few weeks I'll have some 15x2ft baseboards, with back scene, lighting rig and front facia. It's going to be a great basis for the start of something big! I was talking to some chums yesterday and we've managed to come up with a suitable track plan! Based (very, very loosely) on Denholme, it'll definitely feature a two track 'main' line, with a station on the far right of the board. It'll also feature a decent sized goods yard on the bottom left, with point work joining it to the mainline around the middle of the board. If I can fit it in, I might have a single track branch line coming off the mainline around the middle of the board which will have its own platform at the station, then disappear into its own tunnel on the right. It should make for some quite interesting movements, seeing a DMU waiting to cross the mainline at a signal for a big freight train! I've attached some photos below about what's inspiring me at the moment! I got the tape measure out last night and marked out 2x7ft (half of the space I have to play with), and as you can see, I should have plenty of space to play with to fit the above in! The 'stopping' trains won't be longer than 5 Mk1s, but since it'll have a 15ft fiddle yard behind one day, I'll be able to run quite long trains non stop through the layout! I'm getting quite excited now! 😁
