Crossing / signal boxes, ……. if you have a wedge shaped corner needing a crossing or signal box then there were some odd looking boxes made to fit into narrow spaces, this one looks OK from the street but as can be seen in the 2nd picture, was very narrow at the opposite side and only just wide enough for the staircase.
