Swapped my layout for a quick visit to Senglea (L-Isla) today! One of Malta’s 3 cities in the Grand Harbor (l-Port il-Kbir). In the photo you see what was once Dock 1 of the Malta Drydock. Built by the Order of St. John in the early 16th century and then industrialized by the British Empire in the 19th century. In the 16th century a galley of the Order sitting in the dock was a common site. However, more recently one would have seen HMS Warspite as the flag ship of the Mediterranean fleet. In front of the church one can just about see the freedom monument. This was the sight were the Maltese kicked you British out for good in 1979 😂
