#fixed Finally solved this puzzle! Two things were happening: in some spots the surrounding concrete was a fraction of a ml higher than the rail, and the gap between the inside of the rails and the middle concrete was too narrow, catching the flanges of the wheels in some spots. Without a stay alive the older locos were losing power. (they will all eventually have stay alive but it was bugging me ;) ) Now I just gotta respray and we’re good to finish, lesson learned for next time :) For context, in this vid the loco is 40 years old, with the original Lima motor, two driving wheels and no stay alive!
