Hi People, long story on my modelling history that I will share with you sometime, but my last layout ended up being dismantled (scrapped) due to baseboard problems. I’m of a certain age where I still remember soft compressed paperboard being a surface of choice, turns out only until you start applying water based things like diluted PVA for ballasting when it starts warping and delaminating. Anyway, new layout is about to start and I have a set of 9mm ply baseboards. My question is now to cork or not to cork? Does cork underlay really add any benefit or is it just more work? I’m thinking I need to cork underlay rail buildings as well if I cork underlay the track? A trial indicates wagons don’t fit through the goods shed if the track is corked and the shed isn’t. What do people recommend? Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
