Someone asked me on Justin's Wednesday Live how I've been getting on with Bachmann's latest V2... the answer is very, very well! This is by far the best kettle I own, the paint finish is superb, although it's very 'ex-works' which won't do for me! The model is very weighty, comes with loads of extra detail, and features lots of great design features like the new tender coupling mechanism and opening firebox doors. The only negative point against it, is the loco comes fitted with a measly 15x11mm speaker in the boiler. This is by no means big enough, and the space in the tender has been largely ignored, which is a shame considering it's perfect for a good size speaker. If you want to fit realistic sound, you'll need to permanently couple the loco to the tender, or fashion in a small coupling mechanism for the speaker. If I can this weekend I'll take some proper stacked photos of the V2, but for now you can enjoy some raw iPhone photos!
