Morning all. Question of the day! What got you started in the hobby? Why did you pick railway modelling over other hobbies? For me it was my grandad John Henry who used to work as a guard at Mantle Lane, Coalville. He used to take me to open days there etc. Then my parents gave me a train set for Christmas when I was about 10 years old I think. But it was always the scenery and stuff that interested me. I was never any good at building it or creating it from scratch in my teens. I’d just build Super Quick kits etc then mess about creating various bits on the computer (a very basic computer) with a simple black and white dot matrix printer. I’d just make simple signs etc. I always found the scenery and architecture more interesting than the trains themselves. I just like making small things!
