Just to the East of Ilkeston North station the line crosses the Erewash ( Ery- Wosh ) valley including the Erewash Valley line, the Erewash canal and the River Erewash on Benerley Viaduct know locally as the Iron Giant. Tomorrow I'm going to visit it with an old school friend who is travelling down from Scunthorpe to have a look.
