I have noticed a lot of activity on the railway across Yarm Viaduct today. There is a main line diversion from the East Cast Main Line though Durham to Newcastle because of engineering works. Some trains which are electric dual-mode are using the Northallerton – Yarm – Stockton – Sunderland (coast) route to Newcastle and return. This is the last of three weekend diversions. Most of the AZUMA( all electric) trains are terminating at either Darlington or York and the passengers taken on coaches to bridge the gap in the service. Here is an image captured at Picton Crossing, south of Yarm.
