#weekendmodelling #postit Having just about finished the engine shed and redone its base and hardstanding I now needed a method of fixing it to the layout so that it would be removable for track cleaning and maintenance. The SMS Concrete Hardstanding is glued to a piece of 1mm card which is a close fit to the inside of the building. This gives a positive location for the building on the layout and it is then held in place by a long M5 bolt passing right through the baseboard and secured with a washer and wing nut. What I hadn't thought to check was whether there was anything on the underside of the baseboard where the bolt came through, Doh!! Sure enough, the bolt emerged exactly where the control box for the layout's lighting was mounted! Fortunately, all the connections to the box plug in so it was just a question of remounting the box out of the way of the hole, making sure that the plug-in cables were long enough to reach its new position. Must remember to check that next time!
