#weathering #wagons without overloading the forum with photos of my weathered wagons and these are the last ones for awhile - I've finished off weathering three of the excellent BBA wagons from Cavalex - two bauxite and one rail freight (might well order a second RF). These are weathered using my usual arcylic paints (Games Workshop and Lifecolor). I started with the ends and drybrushed a lighter shade to indicate paint fade. Weathered black was brushed in the crevices using a small brush. The rust shades build up with the Lifecolor rust shades using a flat brush onto the surface and edges. Then the decks were painted using the aforementioned rust colours, again drybrushing and building up the shades. A large flat brush was used to drybrush a couple of different shades of grey onto the surfaces. The stakes treated the same way. Finally the underframe was painted using Lifecolor rail weathering set and 'oily steel' added to the springs and axle covers. The loads were made myself and again painted using acrylics to denote mild steel plates, which are just starting to show surface rust as is common on hot rolled plates.
