After a fair bit of trial and error experiments, I think I've got the roadbed /cess summat like! Proper ash, thinned black OIL paint, (so we don't dissolve the PVA, again(!)), then a quick dry brush with white and a tad of ochre. The grass isn't permanent, just to see if the tone is right, as its hard to tell against raw wood! Any comments? Please be honest/ruthless!
