#tardistuesday I would like to go back to my village railway station in the 1950s, watching the coal trains from the local pit running up the Newcastle to Shrewsbury line, into the tunnel through to Keele and on to join the mainline. Was fun to sit on the top of the tunnel mouth dangling legs as the loco passed under us. I'll never forget the smell in the booking hall of coal smoke, creosote and Dettol floor cleaner.
