Earth Mover 2vs3 EM2=Drop in once lugs have been chopped off. EM3=Chopping away under frame detail, chopping off speaker lugs then glue it all back on. The EM3 is mental and I have one in my Class 37 but it took ages of chopping at the fuel tank before it went in but the result is an excellent deep sounding growl but suffers with a lack of treble with higher tones muted due to the frequency range the EM3 handles. Its not a deal breaker using just the EM3 but nobody has a matching tweeter that is suitable to bring those tones out in a clear way, the ones that are available are to my dodgy hearing to hollow making the tone rubbish. The EM2 has the same issues and although most people have an iPhone speaker also wired, the tones still suffer from mismatched speakers has these are not balanced like an hifi system and so one is louder than the other has the audio output of decoders don’t have a separate bass channel unlike your home cinema. It will be interesting when the new range of ESU and Zimo sound decoders hits the UK retailers what these have for audio outputs and the people that make sound projects use the features available of the decoder. Back to speaker fitting. I’ve gone for the EM2 has I can’t be asked destroying the model considering its final cost once I source the decoder will be close to £1k. 🙈
