The other reason for raising the layout up, is to span the fiddleyard over the top of my little dirt bike 🙂 I also decided (after building the top all at the same height) that at the far end I would build a viaduct. In hindsight, it’s the best decision I ever made as it really adds interest both for the rail and road aspects of the layout 😎
