#disusedrailways #postit This is Bennerley viaduct, " The Iron Giant " as we know it locally, near my home town of Ilkeston, Derbyshire. It was built in 1877 by the Great Northern Rly. It's one of the only two wrought iron viaducts left in the UK, this one is by far the longest at a quarter of a mile long. It was featured in the TV show " Architecture the Railways Built" It is grade 2 listed and it is being refurbished for use as a public footpath and cycleway.
