The plan this weekend was to built a station platform. I mostly achieved it, too! This part of the layout is effectively a stretch that joins an oval layout at either end. It’s the longest straight section I have, so the station goes here! I my head I have the station building actually above the tunnel entrance at the far end, on what will be a higher town section (once I build that part!). The platforms will be at this lower level, with another one to add to service the outside loop. I had originally planned to build a set of steps that would provide access to the platform, but I’m not much of a modeller, so was not looking forward to it at all. Then I saw that Scale Model Scenery make lift doors! So that’s the way to go! Lifts to the platform level! https://www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/lx235-oo-lift-doors-for-model-buildings-pack-of-4-oo4mm176-7964-p.asp There’s a bay on the right for a DMU to sit in, as it reminds me of the one at Newbury and also at Reading from which the stopping service between the two stations runs. I’ve made it look absolutely filthy, as there would be DMUs sitting there ticking over regularly. I think I can probably get five carriages along the platform on the other side for larger passenger services (although I don’t yet have more than three carriages!).
