#toptips when assembling any polystyrene kits, I no longer use polystyrene cement from a tube. Instead, I dry assemble each joint, taping to hold an accurate position. Then I use Tamiya Extra Thin Cement applied with the brush supplied in the bottle. The trick is to run along the joint and, through capillary action, the cement floods into the joint. It dries in seconds and ensures no 'fast melt' of thin parts. The surface isn't scarred either.
