As some may know, I have been “out” of this hobby for many years (apart from the odd purchase of something for “when I get time”). I have done a lot of RC, military and architectural modelling in that time mind. In that time lots has changed, but in particular there seems to be a difficulty in getting loco’s now. I used to wander into my local model shop, run by two fantastically helpful and enthusiastic gents who sometimes remembered that they were there to sell things. They had most things in, you could touch, see and smell and they were quite willing to let people run up an “account”. Now it’s all about pre-ordering sight unseen, restricted stock, different toolings of the same model (catching the unwary) and hunting around for old models of what you want on eBay, shops websites and (I am told - as they aren’t happening now ofc) exhibitions. My (rambling) point is that I am not sure this is progress? Is it?
