#toptips For petals on flowers/bushes/trees use coloured pencil sharpenings! These can be scattered over the green foliage. They can be lightly scrunched smaller with a rolling pin if required. Along these lines, @Sam Jones also suggested frozen, grated wax crayons which I also like. They must be frozen first though to make them easier to grate and scatter. A small pack of crayons will provide a lot of different colours for whatever plant you want to grow on your layout!
