Just a little about the Harrier GR3 that is being built for the Hermes diorama. It is XZ988, which was less than 9 months old when it was shot down. Sqn Ldr Bob Iveson was tasked to attack a suspected 105mm gun at Goose Green, with cluster bombs. He made three! runs, dropping cluster bombs on the second pass. Then he returned to make one last strafing run when radar guided anti-aircraft fire crippled the aircraft and so he ejected. Travelling at 450kts at 100ft, he and the wreckage landed 7 miles away! Bob survived, hid up, and was recovered 3 days later by a british army helicopter. Accordingly, the title plate on the diorama will be 'Bob's last launch' depicting the aircraft loaded with weapons, after being towed to the take-off centreline, with Bob about to climb in. There will also be another plate detailing the event. The photo is of the tail wreckage.
