I’ve finally started making this hotel for real! I’m starting with the back building which has three visible parts and 11 of the 124 windows that I will eventually be cutting out. I’ve seen a picture of the real hotel taken in the early 20th century before the stonework was cleaned and it was almost completely black. I’ve tried to reproduce this by adjusting the colour of the stone texture and it looks almost exactly as I intended. I’ve tried to mimic the effect of white-painted stone on the right hand side as this wall will be part of a dingy yard and I expect that it could be painted white in this situation. Onto the window lintels and sills next and then the window frames.
