Welcome to FLEETWELL. On this page I hope to describe the build of my layout from the beginning . A brief introduction. The garage was never used to house the car so with agreement from the other half I converted it to my layout room, removing the up and over door, blocking the opening then lining the interior with insulation and plasterboard on battens. The original roof was replaced with industrial type cladding then the inside was insulated. Two new LED battens were added and suspended on chains so I could alter the height for optimum light over the layout. I retired at the end of 2018 and spent several months visiting forums reading topics on DCC etc. I downloaded a copy of SCARM track design software and after playing around for a couple of months settled on a track design. The original layout, started in May 2019 was dismantled October 2020 as we were looking to move home. Due to Cov-ID our potential buyers had to pull out, therefore we lost the property we'd hoped to buy. After several months of looking for another property and finding nothing suitable we decided we'd stay put. So, April this year I attempted to start on my new layout, again called - 'FLEETWELL' I had saved most of the frames from the original build so would be using these. We've now decided to make some home improvements which means the garage has been used for storage space - I anticipate I will be able to commence work on the new layout Mid-November. The layout is a purely fictional location with industries that interest me.
