#storingtrains #posit I have got one of these Really Useful Box storage towers that I brought direct from the end of last year. My thinking was for when I eventually get my layout Speedlow up and running and hopefully to some exhibitions I can use the drawers to store diesels, wagons and a few items of passenger rolling stock like a short railtour rake of Mark 1 coaches or a First Generation DMU like 101s, 104s or 108s. They can be ordered in different combinations of drawer and frame colours and anything from 1 drawer upwards. Plus any unused drawers can be used for DCC system handsets, paperwork, track cleaning etc. I have a 4 drawer tower at present but intend to use 6 drawer towers in time with blue and yellow drawers. The third photo shows a clear plastic tray that I found from at a stand at a swapmeet some years ago and they are ideal for storing my favourite wagons in. I added a base with cutouts made from black 5mm foamboard from Hobbycraft to allow the upturned wagons to sit securely and not slide around the box when closed and in transit. A late friend of mine who used to have several OO exhibition layouts carried a lot of his stock around in the under-bed type boxes. Fine, but there was no lining or way of separating the lower layer from the upper layer of stock. So usually quite a bit of cursing and fixing of parts that had come off his stock before stock could go on the layout. So remember treat your stock with respect! Cheers Paul
