I'm a late arrival to model railways, but lockdown provided the impetus and the opportunity. I boarded out the loft and got to work. Now I have a fairly well established layout of my alma mater prototype station which is Knutsford, set in the late '60s on the Cheshire Lines Committee line from Manchester to Chester. ICI and Octel dominated the freight traffic with long slow rumbling rakes of wagons, then hoppers bringing lime from Buxton down to ICI's plants on the Cheshire salt fields or tetra ethyl lead (anti Knock additive) tankers from Plumley works to the rest of the country. I am modelling in OO.
