Evening folks! Busy weekend, although not much as quite progress made on the big layout as hoped! Despite marking all the cork track bed and various pieces track before lifting them prior to dismantling the layout, matching them all up and relaying is proving challenging! Glad I did mark it up though, otherwise it would be like trying to do a jigsaw in the dark!!! Ho hum! The front of the layout uses Peco Streamline points and flexitrack, the back will use a mixture of Hornby and Peco stetrack, with flexitrack where needed to complete the big "oval" and the various sidings for storage. Saturday saw me up in the attic sorting through boxes to find the various pieces of track and tools to relay the track. Great fun! Found some stuff I forgot I had!! Managed to get a few hours this afternoon to start relaying the sections of "inner" mainline between the points into the TMD. As I had previously cut and respaced the sleepers on the flexitrack for this section, I decided to space them permanently when I relayed the track (they'd just been loose before, and it's surprising how much they move!). Using 2 x MELCAM-UK Tracksetta straights and 2 x Railway Laser Lines sleeper spacer tools, the longer section on the "inside" mainline was relayed between the points into the TMD and the sleepers glued in position with PVA mix. Next job is to space the sleepers on the "outer" mainline, between the slips, and glue them, before ballasting. After that, I can concentrate on the curves at each end of the mainlines, joining into the setrack at the back of the layout. 😬😁😁😁
