Following a brief discussion with @kevin.phare I've decided to add a turntable to the new layout rebuild. It will be a sort of scratch built effort as I can't fit a full size rtr model. I've got a dapol kit which I'll modify to suit my needs. It will add a new operational dimension to the layout.
