Modeller’s Inspiration No. 107. Plasser-Theurer Twin Jib Crane. With the recent announcement from Bachmann about the introduction of their 00 gauge General Purpose Crane (GPC) - that should be with us in the next couple of months, it is great to see ‘Engineering’ vehicles being considered & produced. The GPC will add to the Cowans & Sheldon previously provided although with the exception of the BR Red variant this is applicable to different time lines. This subject of Engineering stock is an untapped potential. There are many of these vehicles that operate on the railway & there is also a variety of liveries too. Here are some images of a twin crane in Balfour Beatty colours stabled before its next shift. For 00 modellers I wish Bachmann all the luck with their recently announced GPC as this could pave the way for a tranche of ‘Engineering’ products including this twin jib crane & of course a tamper to name but two potential additions. Here’s hoping….
