Hi all. As promised its not as long for this post as the last few so things are looking up 😊. Ever since I first started this layout, the inner track for the Container Depot has never run correctly, that also is the same story for the Heritage sidings but that’s for another day. There were a couple of reasons for this, one was the wiring of the rails as I cut corners at the time although can’t remember why. Another was the card that I used for the concrete in places was slightly too high or too close to the rails so the locos either lost connection or they derailed, either way it was crap and then there was the issue of space due to poor planing, Opps ☹. Another thing that bothered me after a little while was the access road into the Container Depot. You may remember that I had to lower the bridge by about ¾ inch so in reality no large vehicles could access that, but I could not do anything about that….Thank God Pete Waterman is not here! Unfortunately being logical and an Ex HGV Driver and the fact that I am probably totally anal I guess, the logic in me could never get to grips with the fact the roads don’t really go anywhere, that’s also the same logic why I can’t get to grips with Low Relief Buildings. So to get this sorted out I have moved some bits around. The Hill behind NA Howells Plant Hire and engineering has been cut back so that the building can be set back further. This has allowed the access road to be two way so now I am happy with that, told you I was Anal!!!. The cardboard concrete has been taken up in a couple of places and rather than redo it in card, I have had a go at modelling Air Drying Clay and it worked brilliantly. The effect I think is great and the locos now run well with no de-railments. I still need some more signage and a bit more painting but it’s coming on alright. I have rewired the rails so that now there are no issues, well not at the moment anyway but the only thing that I can’t do without major messing is that the inner of the two lines below the crane is too tight and close to the wall for long locos or wagons. As such, they are confined to the outer line with short wagons and shunters using the inner but I won’t tell anyone if you don’t.
