Evening all, as some might know, we Iive in Ayrshire, a lovely ex-mining village, just up the road from us is the Doon Valley Railway, run by the Ayrshire Railway Presentation Group (ARPG), and only a whole 6 minutes up the road from us lol. Being a resident in the village, we had a free train ride today (bank hol) πŸ‘. Have to say, the last time I rode on steam train.......was about 1956' ish πŸ˜€. The journey was only about 20 mins overall but saw lots of our beautiful scenery that we hadn't seen before. All the staff were so helpful and knowledgeable. We reached the dizzingly top speed of 7mph lol and took loads photos of the journey as well of the station and main works area. The end of the line at the moment is about half of what they are hoping to be able to use in the future. There has been a tremendous amount of work in restoration that will be ongoing for a long time βŒ›οΈ. Here are some photos of the day.
