Had a”lightbulb” moment this evening! Dreading the thought of trying to cut strips of weathered yard concrete texture paper to the correct size, about 7mm wide, to place in between the rails on my depot and CS shed areas, I tried sticking a part sheet across two tracks on a Kato tramway plate and then ran an old wagon with pizza cutter wheels across the plate to cut the paper across the rails. BINGO! It worked a treat! To finish off, I ran a blade along the edge of the rails, both sides, to remove the paper covering the rails and then again to tidy up for a decent finish. Now to try it on the layout proper, which I hope will look as good as the trial plate in the photos.
