#weekendmodelling #postit #postittheme This is a follow-up post to explain a bit more about the method behind this oak tree… For the trunk & main branches I used the twisted wire method. Then I wound thin strips of masking tape around the wire frame trunk & branches - reasonably tightly. Then I added lots of small ripped squares of single ply toilet tissue - one at a time - using a brush and 50:50 mix of pva & water. This takes a while but it lets you build up the thickness / shape you want. Let the trunk / branches dry then paint it. The smaller branches are sea foam pieces super glued in place. I first added Anita’s tacky glue - it goes on white but after 30 mins it’s super tacky so it held the sea foam pieces in place while I added a dab of superglue using a cocktail stick. I airbrushed the sea foam a brownish colour then, using hairspray as an adhesive, added Woodland scenics blended turf, followed by a sprinkling of Noch leaves. Going to try it with a more spindly tree next - birch maybe.
