The GB Rail Freight Diesel Gala at the Nene valley Railway back in September started off on a clear but very humid day. On the first day, my plan was to walk from the hotel to the first station and then get a train to Wansford, yer right! It was mobbed 🥴. The amount of people compared to the early morning Swanage Gala was ridiculous and a complete bun fight so I did not bother, instead I walked the line side path from Peterborough (Nene Valley) Station to Orton Mere Station and then again onto Overton Station but then caught a train onto Wansford. I enjoyed the walk and got the chance to take the odd photo (and coffee & cake) along the way😛. The only issue walking the line is that I did miss a couple of locos running where the path leaves the side of the track but that couldn’t be helped. After a couple of hours it calmed down but there were people battling to just ride behind a loco which I find strange, surely they also want to look / watch but no, running and knocking people getting from one platform to the next, very inconsiderate and totally ridiculous. As the first day progressed, as said it calmed down and it was nice to have some me time and chill out. After a wonder around some of the wrecks at Wansford, I did take a look at there service depot / shed and actually took a couple of rides myself. The photos added are in no particular order.
