Scratch-build a small boat - Following on from my previous two posts on scratch-building a small boat - this is the third build. Having gained a little experience from the previous two, I decided to create one a little larger but using the same technique, ie using coloured paper instead of paint. Being a little larger than the previous two also allow me to 'experiment' a little in that I fitted LED’s for the navigation lights powered by a CR2032 battery. Using coloured paper instead of paint also allowed for neater "lines” something I could not achieve with paints. The white, red and black colours all "meet" with neat crisp lines. The build time for this particular model was around three hours and it is constructed from 1.5mm card. The construction of these three models then led to the construction of the Canal Boat after having been satisfied that coloured paper was "the way to go” in achieving a neat colourful finish without the need for paint.
