Evening all. Hope everyone is well. Busy couple of days here. The 5 inch gauge track weathering is coming along pretty good (well I think so). The rails are nicely grimed up, the rail chairs have been rusted then dirtied and the sleepers have received further grubbyness. There is still some weathering of the buffer stop to do but whilst that takes place, it is time to start some serious long term testing. Remember, I'm using real grass, shrubs and gravel. First test - I need to see how long I can keep standard garden turf alive, but also monitor at what point it looks rough enough to be adjacent to a dead end siding. The turf is set into seed trays on the baseboard. Secondly, a similar test with small shrubs and ferns. I'm conscious it's winter so anything could happen, hence testing. #5inchgauge
