As I'm watching the Rugby union from Dublin right now (Ireland v New Zealand), it's appropriate to give you a possible modelling idea, from Dublin. This image, is of 59 upper O'connell Street, and is the headquarters of Dublin Bus! Founded on 1st February 1987, Dublin Bus is the largest bus operator in Dublin. Prior to 1987, CIE was the state transport operator in Ireland, and the fleet in Dublin was the city services operation, but basically, what went in Dublin went in other parts of the republic of Ireland. A report in 1984 suggested CIE be changed to a parent company, with control of the transport operations transferring to three new companies, owned by CIE. This came into being on 1st February 1987. The city services became Dublin Bus, the provincial services, i.e. outside Dublin, and inter urban into Dublin, became Bus Eireann, and the railways became Iarnrodd Eireann. CIE tours international also became a separate firm. When it was CIE, the last new double deckers for Dublin were in 1983, A batch of Bombardier KDs. Following its creation in 1987, it would be 1990 before Dublin Bus received its first new double deckers, and the first new double deckers for Dublin for seven years, when a batch of fifty nine Leyland Olympians were delivered. Since then, the company has bought new double deckers every year. And for those wondering what that sign is, on the middle floors of the building is, well, that's the logo of Dublin Bus/Bus Atha Cliath, in use since June 1987, when it was first applied to twenty KDs at Donnybrook depot.
