I think I now have a formula for weathering wood that I like. These are some samples that I have put together based on a previous go I had at making an abandoned mine entrance (the top sample is untreated as a reference). First I brush on a powder, maybe mixing a couple together. This gives a subtle variation in colour (photos don't really show it that well). Then I soak in Indian ink / isopropyl mix and allow to soak for a while. Once dried, I then brush on the concrete dust to tone down the ink. This gives a dusty dirty look as well.
