I liked this photo (not mine) which shows part of the train from Boulby Mine which will be carrying potash that has been mined at a depth of about 1,200 metres below sea level. These trains often struggle up the bank and round the horseshoe curve at the top of the cliff. At the left end of the picture is the ventilation shaft of the Huntcliffe Ironstone Mine which worked at a depth of a few metres below rail level in this area. The structure contained the fan to draw air through the mine workings and is a listed structure.
