Modeller’s Inspiration No. 148. Not all OTP is yellow. So as a follow on from my post last week, not all on track plant (OTP) is yellow as there are other Companies that work on the infrastructure that have painted their stock in their ‘house colours’. Balfour Beatty’s blue & white livery has been applied to various items and VolkerRail has a similar colour scheme and ‘back in the day’ Jarvis had their mauve livery applied to their OTP. These made for a splash of colour against a backdrop of traditional yellow that was predominate in Engineering yards across the country. Another example is the orange livery that has been applied by the likes of Amey & more recently Colas that can be seen today. Attached are some images showing tampers & the twin jib crane. Both would be popular if made available to 00 gauge railway modeller’s especially as the likes of Bachmann have recently released their general purpose crane in a number of colour schemes which have all been well received. To date, no items have been made available RTR in this orange livery so maybe combining with the yet unmade OTP shown above, an opportunity awaits….
