An update on my new Accurascale Deltic number D9018 Ballymoss, now that I am back in Greece with access to my layout. (06/03/2025). See my earlier post on it. It has been attached to the Tees Tyne Pullman set and runs very well. Because the crew are fitted into number 1 end, which has head code 1A50, it will be going north! That is the down train, which left Kings Cross at 17.00 for Newcastle on Mondays to Fridays. The only thing I’m not sure about is the sounds from the engine. They don’t seem real enough to me, but I can’t remember what they sounded like so I’ll have to listen to a real one sometime! I have also successfully fitted a crew to my Bachmann Deltic D9004 and changed the headcodes, using the sheet supplied by Accurascale, so that it will be going forwards as 1A15, the 09.20 Newcastle to Kings Cross in the up direction, with the crew at the appropriate end. Looking at both the Bachmann and Accurascale locos side by side, they look almost identical and can only be identified by the small amount of additional detail on the Accurascale one. I will take a few photos and maybe even a video of them. Sorry I didn’t think to take them earlier. My only problem is the couplings between the locos and the Pullman brake thirds! It looks like I might have to stick with the tension locks, because I can’t find a way of converting the Hornby coach coupling yet to a Kadee! It is frustrating me no end!
