Modeller’s Inspiration No. 150. Mobile Maintenance Train. The Mobile Maintenance Train (MMT) was a national initiative that saw these units introduced in 2015. Constructed by Robel, there are 8 across the Country based at strategic locations. These ‘workshops on wheels’ enable tasks to be undertaken providing a safe environment for staff reducing exposure to traffic & even the weather. Each MMT has a workshop, 2 built in cranes, power outlets (for kit being used) & even a kitchen area & toilet. The real USP for the MMT is the expandable walls that extend out over the work site to provide protection from passing traffic to staff. In turn, this enables maintenance tasks to be completed more quickly & efficiently as closure of track is not required. A real innovative piece of kit! In model form I am not aware of anything being available so ‘scratch build’ would be your only option.
