#closecoupling @Kevin Appleby Regarding the new Kadee couplings for your Y7. Please see my photos. I’ve been looking into this in depth and still not sure the loco actually has an NEM363 pocket. The photo on rmweb looks like a standard NEM dovetail to take the NEM362 pocket. It measures over 4mm across the dovetail, whereas the dovetail on an NEM363 measures about 2.6mm across. The actual dimensions of the NEM363 are given in fig.4 on the Kadee leaflet. The dovetail is 1.3mm deep. Less than the 362 pocket dovetail. I have checked my Vitrains locos and couplings this morning and they do have the NEM363 pocket! So the new Kadees are going to be perfect for them. My photos also show a Fleischmann retrofit type kinematic coupling box and this also has the NEM 363 pocket, as you can see. The Vitrains tension lock coupling also fits into it. You can see the difference in the dovetails of the NEM363 and 362 pockets (which come with most stock). In my opinion Rapido have put the NEM362 pocket too far forward. Looking at the photo on rmweb, I see no reason why it couldn’t have been put further back, to give the proper NEM dimensions! Not sure what you can do yet.
