Hello, Help please. Any advice regarding a recent purchase of a Hornby 8f R2229 would be greatly appreciated. I bought it on eBay as hardly used and cosmetically I wouldn't disagree but it is driving me nuts. Initially it was a reluctant runner, even giving out some smoke, but I got it going with a clean and lube and it ran beautifully on the rolling road. I installed a DCC chip in the socket and it still ran well. When I came back to it it wouldn't run at all and shorted my circuit breaker when I tried to run it. The DCC chip was still readable on my program track but the loco wouldn't move on the layout. I took the DCC chip out and it ran on analogue on the rolling road and it was fine. I put the chip back in and it now runs! I have tried different chips in it and it still has the same problem. I initially thought it might be the motor? Or the DCC socket/wiring? Would it be worth hardwiring a chip in? Help please I am pulling my hair out!! Thanks Jonathan
