(22/04/2025) Not so much close coupling, more like getting another rake sorted. I’ve run out of Hunt couplings, so making a list of requirements for when I go back to England. This is another favourite from Runswick Leamside days! The Pet Foods train! Do any of you remember that? The real thing ran from Wisbech up to the north east via a very slow route, but was popular with photographers because haulage was usually a class 56 and anything could turn up on it. It was normally made up of 25 or more VGA two axle vans, so when Bachmann introduced their model, I bought the whole trainload! The wagon has NEM362 pockets and I changed all the tension locks for short continental couplings, as I had a shed load at the time. They were a big improvement but not quite as close as I can get with Hunt couplings. All I’ve had to do today is change two outer end couplings to Kadee No18’s, for coupling to my locos. It looks like I might have to win the lottery to get more Hunt couplings! It’s another long train, so I’ve tested several locos and all of them pull the rake of ?? (you count!) wagons very easily. Anyway, enjoy the videos.
