SCRATCH BUILD GANTRY HOIST - Not a lot of modelling over the week end as the good weather was still with us. With the good weather, and still having to decide on the position of the top 'I' beam, the only thing I got done, was making the four little black and red chevron type safety ends for the gantry base. These were made separately from 1.5mm card with little strips of black and red coloured paper applied with Pritt Stick. It would have been impossible for me to paint such narrow little stripes. I did spend some time arranging the gantry along side some buildings to get an idea of how it would look, for size, and was 'surprised' that it appeared ok! Having never built one of these before, and working from memory, building an OO gauge model of one, presents its own problems ie height, width and length will all have to be "guesstimated". I think I will accept that my "guesstimates” are fairly acceptable and will try and progress with the build!🙂
