#Manic Monday modelling, well most of this happened yesterday. Ballasting, like Marmite in the model railway fraternity. I’m ok with it when it’s going well. However, up until now I’ve always ballasted onto cork. Camels Crossing is on foam. I’ve always used Ballast Magic, love it , dead simple quick, relatively clean and simple. Until you use it on foam!!!!!. Nightmare!!!!I’ve done quite a bit of ballasting , all of Lock Down + the shelfies, always gone well. This time, with it being a dry mix, it doesn’t stick to the shoulders and piles up at the bottom. When you eventually get it looking something like as you mist spray it wanders down the shoulders leaving in dress code terms, an off the shoulder look. It also doesn’t seem to bond well I’ve tried changing the recommended mix ratio, peppering neat magic onto the mix prior to misting all to very little avail. So before I resort to 50/50 mix pva and risk getting glue everywhere I’ve done this. Taken some neat track foam glue applied it very sparingly to the foam underlay reaching between the edge sleepers with a newly made plasticard tool and a little on the baseboard. I will add a little more ballast magic mix to bring up the shoulders and do the track centre but I think this looks ok.
