Well, what do you know! Im back up and running trains again! Hooray! (23/05/2025) It’s been a long hard slog, doing the extensions, building the desk and fitting all the DCC Concepts accessory system, but now I’m ready to apply power and set up the panel! But I can’t because I don’t have a power connector!! For some reason DCC Concepts don’t supply them any more, so I’ve got to get one when I’m back in Blighty and so the exciting bit will have to wait. However, as you can see, I’ve wired everything up and built my temporary makeshift panel using hardboard. Not the best material for a panel and I am not a carpenter, so it’s a bit Heath Robinson I’m afraid. I might consider having a professional panel when I can afford it. In other words, when I can get planning permission from SWMBO!! You know what I mean! The first photo shows my desk with everything positioned as I planned. The makeshift panel, done to test the concept really, is hinged so I can work on the back. As you can see in the second photo, I’ve had to glue the Alpha mimic board on the back of the panel for now, as the LED leads are not long enough to stretch to the desk top. I’ve only kitted out the storage yard for now and you can see the section on the panel in third photo. I’m not happy with wiring, but it’s the best I can do with my skills. I will set it all up and test it when I get back to Greece again in July. The last two photos show the layout ready to run trains again, with all the storage boxes reorganised and neatly put away under the layout and hopefully much further away from horrible little visitors!🦂 I cleaned the track and vacuumed the top of the layout, followed by a great running session this afternoon. I can’t wait to be able to change points with switches, while sitting at my desk. Have a great weekend everyone!
