It was raining heavily, very heavily, as we arrived at Porthmadog on our way to Menai Bridge. In all the times we have stopped there for lunch, we have never seen the "new" link between the old station and the mainline station in use, but this time our luck was in. NG/G16 130 was built in Manchester and worked in South Africa until 1985. It returned to the UK, but was put into store after plans fell through. It came to the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways for major restoration sponsored by a private individual. It entered service in April 2021 and has recently been donated to the railway. And on Saturday, 20th September, it was due to head out on the return leg of its trip to Caernarfon! So we waited, in the rain...... And the wait was well worth it!
