#closecoupling #Draxbiomass #darrellrogan221 31/03/2026 Following on from my post on 26/03/2026, regarding fitting the Roco close coupling adapters to the Hornby biomass wagons. I have spent a few hours today fitting the end hoppers back on to the wagons. The photos show the process. Photo 1 shows the wagon with the bogie clipped back in and the Roco coupling adapter. Photo 2 shows, from left to right a) The hopper doors underside, as cut off and the NEM pocket removed. Save them. They are useful for fitting to old stock. b) The hopper from the inside, top view, again as cut off. c) Cut out a rectangle on the inner edge, so that it clears the back of the Roco coupling. Photo 3 shows the next stages. Cut away all of the front edge, so that the coupling can swing freely. Now you have two cut outs, as you can see on the left. I used a dremel with a cutting disc, rotating milling bit, files and a craft knife. Next, cut strips of plasticard 40 thou thick and 16mm long. Superglue these to each side of the hopper doors, as you can see on the right. The strips basically fill the gap that is there as supplied and means the hoppers are all at the same height. In photo 4, the hopper doors are superglued onto the wagon in the correct position. It clears the coupling nicely. Photo 5 shows the completed job, with the hoppers now fixed to the wagons. The white strips of plasticard will be painted black. I have to say, I think they look much better like this and they definitely run better. I am rather pleased with the end result. Anybody want theirs doing? I can take orders when I’m back in England! šŸ˜„šŸ˜„
