In our last video this weekend, we dip into the world of DCC (Digital Command Control). Here Larry Puckett (a.k.a @The DCC Guy ) looks at a number of DCC interfaces. Larry says 'Adding a computer interface to your DCC system can expand your abilities to use programs like DecoderPro for easier decoder programming as well as to make it possible to use other programs to operate signals and other features. Since JMRI (computer software design to control & run a layout as well as programming DCC decoders) is FREE and many DCC systems now come with a USB interface built-in, it has become easier and cheaper than ever! When Iain & Dylan were last down here at SMS HQ, Iain showed me one of these interfaces in action to operate our demo layout Dunn Street Yard, via a laptop with JMRI installed & a smartphone with a train throttle control app!! It all looked like voodoo or some weird kind of black magic to me but apparently it's all quite easy! So join Larry now for a look at interfaces and options for a few common DCC systems.
